The majority of us Newcastle fans go against the grain of what is said and written about us in the media and this season is no exception.
The so called ‘experts’ have in one hand sensationalised us as runaway favourites to be promoted but in the other said that the fans need to stop getting carried away with these predictions. Pretty ironic when you step back and look at the bigger picture because not one of us have said anything.
We win and they say it’s expected, we lose and they say we cant just turn up and expect to buy the league. We dont and that’s before the net transfer spend of minus £30 million is mentioned.
It’s all about agendas and it’s no surprise that Rafa Benitez has had his say about where we are and where we are looking to be.
Speaking in his media presser ahead of the away trip to London and QPR, he was quoted as telling the players to focus on ourselves and to take it one game at a time:
Rafa said: We have confidence now that we are doing well. The players know what the Championship means, but still my main message is that we have to concentrate.
We cannot be overconfident, and we have to be sure that we approach every game like the most important game of the season.
Benitez continued the theme by stating the fact that the media keep missing in that we’ve achieved nothing yet and to be professional by continuing:
To win games in a row, to do well and to improve, those are the main things. If we can carry on doing the same, I will be pleased and after, we will see the table.
But the main thing is to be sure that we are concentrating, we are focused and we approach every game with the right mentality. We have done nothing yet, so we have to carry on working very hard.
