Rafa Benitez has warned the Newcastle players about having to learn and adapt to pressure in our promotion final straight but this also applies to a certain element of our support.

With every defeat or draw, there is a meltdown effect amongst some fans and if the players buy into this then we could struggle to go up, however Rafa seems to have this in hand.

With us still top and technically at worst, 4 points ahead of 3rd dependent on Huddersfield winning that game in hand and our goal difference, at best we would be 7 points ahead of the play off challengers, it’s still well within our grasp and moreso if we all keep calm.

Benitez wants a reaction after the lacklustre showing at home to Fulham who just clicked on the day and speaking in The Chronicle, he spoke of what he wants.

He said: The key now is to react as a team in the right way, we have time to prepare for the next game to be ready physically and mentally for the Birmingham game.

We try to approach each game thinking about ourselves and to try to get three points, that`s it.

With a club record in our sights away from home, another win would make it 14 for the season in just 20 games and it’s a bit strange looking at our away games to carry us but Rafa wants the players to manage the pressure or expectation level at home to match.

Rafa continued: When you concede a goal at home and you know you have to perform then normally you have a little bit of pressure but it`s something we can manage, the division does not surprise us now because we know.

We have to learn how to manage pressure if we want to stay at the top of the table.
