Rafa Confirms No ‘Official Approach’ Made For Newcastle Winger

|

Rafa Benitez says that he hasn’t received any indication from Rangers that they are interested in Rolando Aarons.

The Scottish club were reportedly one of three teams looking at the 22-year-old but ahead of tonight’s game against Notts Forest, the manager said:

“I don’t have any official approach, but it’s one of the options they have been saying in the rumours.”

However, Rafa did confirm that there are “two or three teams” interested in the former England youth international ahead of Friday’s transfer deadline.

It is believed that one of the reasons why clubs are reluctant to take a chance on Aarons is because he hasn’t had any game time this season, and they are worried about the winger’s fitness levels.

He won’t be able to improve his match sharpness in the Carabao Cup tonight though as the manager has said he won’t pick the midfielder for the game. The most likely reason for that is he is worried that the player may get injured before a loan deal can be agreed.
