Reports are flooding in that Fat Ashley is in talks with Singapore-based company “The Profitable Group”. If you haven’t heard of them, ex-Liverpool & England player Steve McMahon is currently employed by the group as a Commercial Director, as well as Kenny Dalglish. Perhaps Big Al called in a favour from his former Newcastle and Blackburn mentor?

The Group have said that they want to turn the club into a ‘supporters trust’, like the FC Barcelona model which, considering that they have just won the Champions League, can`t be a bad thing in my opinion.

They have stated a few things that they want to do, namely:

1 – Appoint Alan Shearer as Manager and give him funds to do his job (Ed: Would be a nice start!);

2 – Expand St. James Park to a 60000 capacity stadium;

3 – Appoint a “footballing figure’ to boardroom level to avoid Ashley style errors;

4 – Put the club on a sound financial footing;

5 – Turn the club into a trust so that the fans have more of a say.

This sounds like the way the club should be ran and hopefully this can help us get back to the Premiership at the first attempt, if the dream isn’t derailed by Shepherd, Ashley and co.
