Newcastle are preparing for next season already as they have reportedly registered an interest in two Burnley players; Jeff Hendrick and Robbie Brady.
The pair will be available as free agents in the summer, and so far neither has signed a new contract, despite Hendrick playing 27 times this season. Talks are reportedly ongoing between the Clarets and Hendrick but there is an opportunity for the Magpies to sneak in and attract the Ireland internationals to St. James’ Park, though that is a move that wouldn’t sit well with fans it would seem.
Would Jeff Henrick or Robbie Brady be a good addition
Yes, both
Only Hendrick
Only Brady
Neither are good enough
For good reason, too. After a mediocre season with little entertainment – having scored 25 goals in 29 league games – we deserve more ambition on show.
Steve Bruce should be targeting players akin to Miguel Almiron or Allan Saint-Maximin, rather than a pair who have contributed a combined total of three goals and four assists in the Premier League this term.
However, the fact the duo are available on the cheap does appeal to some supporters, and given the lack of attacking midfield options currently it is possible that Hendrick could allow Bruce to adopt a different style.
