Lots of Newcastle United fans were livid with the Premier League chief executive Richard Masters as he once again refused to comment about the ongoing takeover of the Magpies.

When asked by SNP politician John Nicolson (via The Guardian) about the prospect of Mohamed bin Salman of the Public Investment Fund (PIF) taking control of the club despite his controversial background, Masters did not budge on his silence.

The Saudi-based consortium agreed to purchase the Tyneside club from Mike Ashley for £300m, which has the potential of transforming the landscape at St James’ Park and could turn Newcastle into a financial powerhouse.

Do you think the takeover will be announced this week?

Yes!

Yes!

No!

No!

However, delays from the league’s strenuous owners’ and directors’ test, as well as the World Trade Organisation’s (WTO) report, have halted proceedings, with no indication on what the latest is.

Unsurprisingly, this didn’t go down well with the St James’ Park faithful who have had to wait long enough for any answers at all regarding something that could change the landscape of their club. One fan said that the supporters should start preparing “for the worst”, while another described his tight-lipped comments as a “joke”.
