Having played another immaculate game against his former club, ex-Magpie Jonathan Woodgate was upbeat about our chances of stopping up. The man described as the best NUFC defender he had played with by Alan Shearer (not as much of an accolade as you think with the likes of Bramble and Boumsong as competition…) said:

‘I want Newcastle to stay up. I’m sure they’ll get out of it, but it’s not going to be easy for them. You’ve got to look at the second-half performance – they’re a good team. They’ve got attackers in abundance. I’m sure it’ll be a different style with all the passionate Geordies behind them. I’m sure they’ll pick up the points.’
