Given: 10 – Probably Man of the Match and definitely the keeper in the Premiership Team of the Week. Superhuman effort by the Lifford Lad, totally undeserving of the shower of sh*te in front of him.

Edgar: 4 – Good goal but conceded a penalty and was generally tortured by Babel. Showed why he`d probably be suited playing for Glenn at Norwich.

Coloccini: 1 – Quite simply Boumsong-esque by the Argentinian. Can`t head, was tortured for pace by Gerrard and offered no confidence for others who sought the leadership of our £10m acquisition. Again questions have to be asked over who bought the player as he seems unsuited to the Premier League.

Taylor: 2 – Like Coloccini, offered little as an alleged ‘senior player`. Made sure that Seb Bassong walks back into the side after suspension rather than giving JFK a selection headache.

Enrique: 2 – Given a lesson by Gerrard, Kuyt and Benayoun when they cropped up on their right hand side.

Gutierrez: 3 – Definitely his worst game in black and white. Extremely wasteful in possession and gave away needless free kicks.

Butt: 4 – Like King Canute trying to stop the tide against the class of Gerrard and Mascherano.

Guthrie: 6 – One of the few players to emerge with a modicum of credit. Kept trying to go forward against his former club.

Duff: 4 – Unlucky with one offside position but otherwise totally lacklustre, weak as water and lazy in possession.

Owen: 3 – Anonymous. Sadly against his former employers the man desperate to score never even really got a sniff. Tragic stuff.

N`Zogbia: 5 – Fair to middling. Asked to play here, there and everywhere again. Bound to be off to Spurs in January after Harry Redknapp`s less than quiet proclamations about needing a left winger.

Subs:

Ameobi: 5 – Made a decent impact in giving us something to lump the ball at. Not much else though.
