Despite a solid performance, earning him 2nd place in your MOTM voting in the last few days, Jonas Gutierrez was a disappointed man after Saturday’s game following Matthew Upson’s outstanding last ditch tackle to stop him opening his account in black and white. Speaking to the media, everyone’s favourite Argie export said:

“It`s hard to take. I feel I had the last real chance of the game and that would have won it for us. I don`t think West Ham could have recovered from that. I wanted to put the ball into the bottom corner, but Upson has made a very good tackle.

It`s important for any young striker to get their first goal early in their career. Andy played very well and for the team. It`s vital for strikers to have confidence and they get that from their goals. I think he`s an exciting player for the future. We have some good new players coming through.”
