Plenty of Newcastle United fans have been having their say on whether or not they would like to see Liverpool winger Xherdan Shaqiri come to St James’ Park.

According to the Daily Mail, the 28-year-old  has been identified by the Magpies as a primary summer transfer target, but the club’s ongoing takeover will have a significant influence on whether Shaqiri will move clubs.

The former Stoke City midfielder has been ostracised at Anfield under Jurgen Klopp, with several calf injuries playing their unfortunate part in his progression on Merseyside. Since his £13m move from the Midlands, he has scored just seven goals and provided five assists in 40 appearances.

Would you bring Xherdan Shaqiri to Newcastle?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Like the report suggests, the club are waiting to hear confirmation of the £300m purchase by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF), but The Guardian revealed that the change of ownership is now in serious doubt as the World Trade Organisation (WTO) has found PIF responsible for the streaming of illegal pirate television in the Middle East, but we will have to wait until mid-June to officially find out.

Despite this, supporters could not agree and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan described him as a “poor man’s Christian Atsu”, suggesting that he will be just another poor signing on Tyneside if he was to make the move up north.

Not all fans had the same wave of thought. These fans believe that he would be a good signing for the club, but one added constructive criticism by saying that he needs to fix up his attitude.
