Rumour has it that Peter Taylor, who formerly managed the England U21’s so successfully, and also managed the senior side on one occasion (after Kevin Keegan resigned as England boss) is being lined up for a coaching position at St James’.

It is believed that Taylor, out of work since leaving Stevenage, met with Dennis Wise on Wednesday and a position at St James, which could be as director of the Academy, currently held by Joe Joyce. However Steve Round’s contract as a coach with the Toon will expire next month and as yet he hasn’t heard anything about having this renewed, so this could be the position he might be offered?

Will Taylor join the coaching set-up at St James, or is this just speculation? If he does would you be happy with him linking up with the Toon?
