With former Liverpool coach Alex Miller taking over at Japanese club JEF United Chiba links to former Liverpool striker Michael Owen are not that surprising are they, but they seem genuine in their thoughts that the could make an official move: ‘We are considering adding players to our squad when the transfer windows open this summer,’ JEF United spokesman Kentaro Shiga told Nikkan Sports. ‘However, we haven’t come to the point where we can name the possible candidates, including Owen.

‘It would be great if we can have a player like Owen with us as that will increase the attention in our club.

‘But we have just started under our new manager and are still working to put things together in the new administration.’

So we have gone from Man United to JEF in Japan in a little over 24 hours!

JEF do say though that no approach has yet been made, but even if it was the likelihood of Owen doing a Gary Lineker and uprooting to play in Japan are not that likely really are they? Not at a mere 28-year-old for sure.
