It’s unlikely that Newcastle are going to spend big this month. That’s just a reality. Despite our clear need for extra depth, the Newcastle brass has shown an increasing unwillingness to spend big on fresh talent, and that’s led to our gradual decline in the English top flight.

However, over the last few weeks, we’ve been linked with a move for MLS ace Miguel Almiron by the Chronicle Live, and that’s an exciting prospect. The attacker has bags of natural talent and he’s arguably one of the best players currently plying their trade in the United States.

However, significantly, financial demands are proving to be problematic in pursuit of a deal, with Newcastle apparently unwilling to match the £100,000-per-week salary that Almiron is demanding.

That’s certainly a big sum of money, but unfortunately for the club, that’s just the going rate for a top player, and it seems as though many fans just eager for their club to splash the cash on him.

We recently asked Newcastle fans whether they’d like to see their club just pay up and get the deal done, and unsurprisingly, the fans are disagreeing with their club once again. A whopping 88% of those polled have stated that they’d like to see Almiron join, whilst just 12% of those polled clearly think he’s not worth the money.

Fans are clearly frustrated by their side’s lack of action, but they evidently recognise the talent that Almiron has, too. It’s clearly up to Mike Ashley, but fans have made their view clear.
