Opinion: Millions Will Watch The Demise Of The ‘Special One’ – Do You Care?

|

An estimated 75,000 plus Old Trafford crowd and millions of TV viewers around the world will watch today’s 5.30pm BST Premier League kick-off between Manchester United and Newcastle United.

In normal times, (if there is such a thing) the above sentence wouldn’t catch the eye. However, in today’s Daily Mirror a sports journo wrote an article about Jose Mourinho and his almost certain sacking today (no matter the result). I am sure you have read the report, or at last seen the headline.

Newcastle United have been at the forefront of headline-makers for all the wrong reasons for how long? And now it’s time for another club to shine over numerous tabloid headlines.

Opportunity to sink a sinking ship?

There is only one person who I want to see lose his job and disappear under a rock, forever – I am sure you know who I’m alluding to. The thing is, do I care about the ‘comings and goings’ in Manchester?

United vs. Magpies

Matt Ritchie did the unthinkable (a bit of a strong word I know but I can’t think of another one to replace it) in February by scoring the only goal of the game. No one predicted Newcastle would get anything from the Manchester United fixture. BUT we did.

Lightning can strike twice

There is nothing that would make me smile more, other than our owner vanishing into thin air, than the Toon doing a double. Having said that our run of form is nothing to write home about. However, their record is not precisely title challenging either.

If there is a day when we can forget, (even if it’s for only 24 hours) our own frustrations then a win at the ‘theatre of dreams’ could and should be on the cards.
