As the dust settles on our league game against Wolves, we prepare ourselves to go again when we face………..Wolves.

The next game is the EFL cup but in the league game, we were poor although Wolves were no better in what could be described as a typical championship game of zero quality.

Without wanting to come across bitter or making excuses, the ball fell right for Wolves all game. Whether this was luck or our lot not giving anything above 75% im not sure.

Wolves had no game plan apart from packing the midfield and then humping it long to break with their first comical goal the worst thing possible to reward it with.

Their second came from what could have been a foul on Perez or just the player giving up too easy in a challenge, difficult to tell but Sels should have stopped the effort.

A lack of real tempo and the officials being their usual diabolical self in this league all contributed but it’s the banana skin that was being warned of and we have to deal with it.

Without wanting to have too much of a go at the players on display I think they all know they could have done better and funnily enough you get the impression that if the same players lined up for both sides in the cup that we’d probably win five nowt.

As it is, there’s plenty of time left in the league for things to settle and the form to continue in the vein it has done but comical sendings off like we saw with Vurnon Anita wont help, even then, the dive was not even worthy of getting a three or a four on the diving chart although the decision has been appealed.

A day that was definitely centring around the word off although the word to avoid in the cup game is ‘out’, hopefully lessons have been learned.
