Nicknamed ‘Nelson Mandela` due to his multi-lingual skills and diplomat style manner, Geremi has come out to urge the fans to get behind the team tonight in order to secure the win in the Carling Cup tie, live on Sky. In the most politically charged speech since MLK`s ‘I have a dream?` effort he said:

“We must all give everything against Tottenham in this competition. It is one of two competitions we can actually win despite what has gone on this season. I think it is important for everybody to see that right now.

I plead with our fans to realise how important it is to the club and how important they are to us and that we need them right behind us. We are at home and we need them behind us for 90 minutes.

It`s so important that we stick together. That is what we have been doing as players in the dressing room. And that is what we need the fans to do who come to the game against Spurs. It is the most important moment of the season. There are a lot of things that have happened at the club recently but we need to stick together.

We believe we can win this game now we are back at home. Michael Owen`s goal at West Ham could still turn out to be a little turning point in our season. We needed that, and it is important for our strikers to get goals to keep confidence high. The goal was a positive thing.”
