With the season not yet in the category of must win games, this weekend’s league fixture is a very important one indeed.

Coming off the back of three defeats and not playing that badly, Watford come to St James’ just off the back of ending a similar run in their season.

The Hornets losing three in a row before beating a low in confidence West Ham side last weekend, a side that looked bad when they played up here, so it may not have been as it seems but we’ll see.

With no injuries reported from our defeat at Man Utd last week and a good week’s training for some of our missing, the game may see the return of long term injured Paul Dummett who has been out since the opener at home to Spurs. A place on the bench may be the best he can hope for though.

Also looking like he could feature is Mikel Merino after he was spotted in training last week in Spain before being featured on the official Newcastle website joining in training. Isaac Hayden got booked last week to get a suspension and the weekend off, so Merino may slot straight back in.

The other injured saw Massidio Haidara play for the under 23’s the other day and he may be in or around the squad but with no pictures or nothing said about club captain Jamaal Lascelles and Christian Atsu, we can presume they wont be involved although Rafa does tend to spring surprises.

We’ll find out tomorrow when he gives his usual pre-match update in his press conference.
