With talk of Newcastle being involved in discussions to be sold ongoing, there still lies a responsibility for the club to be run in a professional manner.

There has been very little ambition on the football front and as much as you can get to prosper Mike Ashley’s other passions in life which is the main reasoning behind us wanting him gone but it cant be left to stagnate.

Ashley, if he still has the keys to the St James’ Park gates, has to allow a spend to get the minimum three quality players we need to survive this season and guarantee another year’s worth of Premier League loot into the Newcastle coffers.

For him it will be paramount to protecting the club’s value and for the fans, the reward for loyalty in a broken game plan that includes the morale of Rafa Benitez.

Rafa will be gone as far as we’re concerned at the end of the season if this is all part of the usual charade to try to get the maximum gain out of a season with the smallest of financial spend. That ship has sailed in just doing enough in the market to survive.

Aside from the likes of Jack Colback that will be shipped out, we need a decent goalkeeper, left back and striker. The other additions that we all know are needed can come in the future, if or when we eventually do get taken over and run as a football club.

For me, this means we need a spend in January of around £50m to give us enough to complete the season and go again next time out.
