Alan Pardew said that Newcastle United will continue to watch the transfer market until the very last hours.

What wasn’t clear was if he mean’t incoming or outgoing.

I agree that im one of those negative types of supporters nowadays that questions every single thing we do and wonder what the bigger picture is. Ive been turned into having this thought train by the exploits of Mike Ashley and co since their introduction some 6 and a bit year ago.

Exploits that read like a crime list in court.

Now im not gonna go through the ‘horrible’ things again but just point out that everything isn’t that rosey in the NUFC garden regardless of signing the odd player or seemingly spending a bit of cash.

The truth of the matter is, yes, we’ve signed 7 players but we’ve sold or let 8 senior players go in, Loic Remy, Luuk de Jong, Shola Ameobi, Romain Amalfitano, Dan Gosling, Sylvain Marveaux, James Tavernier and Matheiu Debuchy with the expected departure of Jonas Gutierrez, Hatem Ben Arfa and more to follow.

The squad was already light to start with and when you add the fact that Yohan Cabaye was sold mid season plus the likes of Steve Harper, Xisco, Nile Ranger, Danny Simpson and James Perch not replaced the Summer before, it’s getting into serious territory.

When you factor in the money side of football, we have recouped around
£34 million in the last year but should still have change from that before you even talk about this season’s transfer kitty or the season before.

The new TV cash or the ‘free’ £32 million we got on top of the usual riches is also not lost on me, so excuse me for holding the positivity in.

I make it that we’re around 8 players short but id be happy with 3 after the expected signing of the 2 Nottingham Forest kids.

We need a top quality striker with presence, a decent centre back and another decent attacking midfielder. Get those and you may just see my negative blood start to thaw.

Until then though, let the propaganda commence.
