“Yep, just raid Ligue 1 again worked so well last time” – A lot of Newcastle United fans are not bothered to hear that their club’s scouts have identified Victor Osimhen as the top target for January.
Osimhen is a full Nigerian international – who has scored eight goals in 12 games for Lille and is said to have impressed Newcastle’s scouting network.
The 20-year-old only joined Lille last summer for £10.8m from Belgium side Charleroi, but his performances have drawn the attention of other clubs already.
The reaction amongst many Toon supporters, though, is apathy.
They think that no matter who Newcastle sign, they won’t be able to perform under the current setup.

be nice if we focussed on giving our record signing some midfield support rather than replacing/competition

Other Newcastle supporters point out the last few times they have bought players from France – it has not worked.
