The reception for Demba Ba was mixed to say the least on Saturday with some booing, some clapping and others just not doing either but the occasion of emotion, passion and vociferous support will be something that he will miss, now that he has left St James’ Park.

Alan Pardew stated this point earlier in an interview in which he referred to our home ground as a ‘cauldron of noise’

He added. ‘I’ve been at some big clubs where you don’t get an atmosphere like that. Big, big clubs…. even at Manchester United.

‘You can go to three quarters of their home games and you don’t get an atmosphere like that. It was unbelievable.

‘That’s what we’ve got. Demba’s going to miss it at Chelsea, trust me.’

We’re world famous for our support and as much as players want to play for big clubs to win things or earn the highest pay packet, you can’t beat a stadium that is full and rocking.

Just think what the place would be like if we actually did win something…
