Many Newcastle United fans have been reacting to the latest update regarding the club’s £300m takeover by Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund (PIF).

The World Trade Organisation (WTO) recently published a report that cleared them of responsibility for beoutQ, an illegal pirate television service in the Middle East, which was why the Premier League delayed making a decision on the Tyneside’s change of ownership.

Current owner and retail tycoon Mike Ashley is a deeply unpopular figure in the North East and a string of poor judgments have seen many protests in an attempt to get him to sell the club.

When do you think the takeover will be announced?

PIF recently took another step to reassure league officials that they would be suitable owners for Newcastle as they vowed to crack down on any illegal activity in their country.

But the Daily Mail revealed that the “feeling” is that this has “not been helpful”, and it is not known whether or not this will further set back the Premier League in regards to arriving at a conclusion.

Unsurprisingly, supporters were not impressed with the latest update and made their feelings clear on social media. One fan said that the takeover is “not looking good”, while another braced himself by saying, “here we go”.
