Not Good Enough – 73% Of Newcastle Supporters Polled Oppose Bid For Championship Striker

|

Aston Villa striker Jonathan Kodjia has been suggested as a possible alternative target if we don’t land West Brom’s Salomon Rondon. Local Midlands newspaper the Express & Star believe we could be interested in the Ivory Coast international.

The Villans are looking to offload a number of their star players as they seek to balance the books, and manager Steve Bruce has indicated that the 28-year-old forward could leave this summer.

I polled supporters over whether a move for Kodjia would be a good idea, and just under three-quarters agreed that he wasn’t good enough for the Premier League:

Alassane Plea of Nice remains a target, according to the Chronicle, but there has been no sign that we will increase our initial £20m offer for the Frenchman. Sky Sports are reporting that Borussia Dortmund are also interested in the pacey forward while reports from France have suggested in recent days that he could well end up at Borussia Monchengladbach.

In my view, the club should just up their bid for the striker. Neither Rondon nor Kodjia would improve on what we have at the club already, but the former France Under 21 international would almost certainly be an upgrade.

What do you think? Could Kodjia cut it in the Premier League or should we go all in for Plea? Let me know in the comments.
