‘Not enough to make a difference’ – Some Newcastle fans react to St James’ rumour

Mike Ashley allowing Rafa Benitez’s Newcastle contract to run out enraged many of the United fanbase, and adding Ayoze Perez’s sale to Leicester City to the mix has sparked even more anger from the St James’ Park faithful.

It appears the frustrations have started to show on the club’s books, too, as rumours emerged over the weekend that the decline in season ticket renewals was “massively significant”, and claims of at least 10,000 fans turning their backs on attending our games have surfaced.

The club has not quoted the exact number, and the truth in the ticket office leak may never be truly known, as whilst the deadline for renewals has now passed (Thursday, July 4), there will be fans quick to snap up a season ticket in fear of missing out on one in the future.

Single game tickets may also prove too good to refuse for some supporters when the season opener against Arsenal comes around in August, leaving the fans calling for a boycott of St James’ Park stood outside in their droves while thousands of the Toon Army pack the stadium regardless.
