Lots of Newcastle fans have discussed on Twitter whether or not Ayoze Perez deserves to get booed on his return to St James’ Park.
The Spaniard has been one of Newcastle’s best players over the past five or so seasons before he departed the club in the summer to join high-flying Leicester City. In his 195 games for Newcastle, he managed an impressive 48 goals as well as 17 assists, so there’s no doubt he was anything but a success on Tyneside.
However, with Newcastle facing Leicester City at home on New Year’s Day, fans have been debating whether he deserves an unwelcomed return to the North East.
What kind of reception does Perez deserve?
Deserves to be clapped
There should be no response
Deserves to be booed
Fan @Jack__1955 tweeted saying “Don’t boo Ayoze on Wednesday”, to which he was met by a pretty varied response.
A selection of fans, as you can read below, are more on the side of giving their former player a bit of stick, with one saying that “he’s getting booed for 90 mins if he plays”.
He's getting booed for 90 mins if he plays

Others agreed with the user by saying that he shouldn’t get booed. One fan even said that some of their fans even booed Kevin Nolan, so he’s got no chance of going unscathed.
Here are some of these responses below…
Some of our “fans” even booed Kevin Nolan. So Perez will definitely get booed if he plays.

Surely for a player that managed to score nearly 50 goals for the club he deserves a bit more respect than getting booed. Ultimately, with Leicester now towards the top of the Premier League, you cannot blame him for wanting to go onto bigger and better things.
His departure is the fault of the club not being able to match his ambitions, not due to the player being greedy.
