With most of the papers speculating on both a new deal and a return to the international fold for our wing-wizard come positionally astute right back it seems fair to get his views on the situation. Speaking to the Sunday Mirror this weekend he popped up with the following pearls:

“Everything is okay with the contract. I’m still talking with the club over small things, but I am confident that I will be here next season. I`d like an international return also. I wasn’t in the last squad but we will see what happens. It’s a difficult situation at the moment, there’s a lot of in-fighting with our Federation. Also, it’s not like Brazil or Argentina who have many players. We only have four or five at big clubs and if anything goes wrong it’s always my fault, or (Claudio) Pizarro’s, or (Jefferson) Farfan’s. So you are always under pressure. If they call me I will certainly think about it – although I have to think about my club as well.’
