Lots of Newcastle United fans have reacted on Twitter to the report that Steve Bruce is looking to sign three of four “quality players” this summer.

While the summer window is still technically nine games away, the uncertainty around how this season will finish has meant that many clubs will be taking a serious look at recruitment right now.

All football has been suspended from the levels below the National League North and South, with all of the results from this season being expunged.

For the levels above that it remains up in the air and dependent on just how the country is impacted by the coronavirus in the upcoming months, which is pretty hard to predict. The official return is set to be on April 30, but that looks hard to see at the moment.

Nevertheless, Bruce has not been hiding his ambitions for the summer window, with him telling the Telegraph that he wants to strengthen the squad with some players with real, top quality.

Bruce told the Telegraph: “The plan is to grow and improve.

“We will add three or four quality players in the summer to the experienced core we have got. Players like Miguel Almiron and Allan Saint-Maximin, who everybody can see have improve us.”

The Chronicle, who also reported the story, suggest that a striker and a dynamic central midfielder are two positions which the manager wants to add.

With the Chronicle tweeting about the incident, many fans responded with their opinions – and it seems not many are buying into Bruce’s words.

Here’s what they had to say…
