Newcastle had a tough time against Chelsea over the weekend, and it was clear once again that we need improvement. With every passing week, our squad is looking thinner and weaker, and something’s got to give.
Unfortunately, though, with Mike Ashley in charge, our chances of bringing in any new faces are looking low. Maybe he’ll prove us wrong, though.
Still, the fact that Ashley doesn’t want to spend big sums of money doesn’t mean that we’re out of luck. Indeed, to the contrary. Significantly, former Newcastle man Yohan Cabaye is now apparently a free-agent as per the Chronicle Live, and that’s left us thinking about the prospect of a return.
Is he past his best? Probably, but so are we, and we’re lacking midfield quality in our first team. He wouldn’t solve all of our problems, but we think he’d be a good start. It’d be a shock for him to return, of course, but it would be a welcome one amongst many fans, you’d expect.
