Neymar Warned Against Joining Newcastle “It’s A Small, Cold Town”

|

Right, grab the pitchforks and torches and round up Jeff Stelling, we need to educate a naysayer.

Brazil legend, Edmundo has suggested that Neymar would struggle to adapt to life on Tyneside if the Magpies were to make a move for him. This has come about after Joelinton jokingly offered an open invitation to Neymar to come to the Toon on a podcast last week.

Now Edmundo, speaking to Esporte (via The Chronicle) has said  “Now, I’ve been to Newcastle; it’s a small, cold town,” adding “If he has difficulty adapting in Paris, he would not be satisfied in Newcastle. If they pay him what he earns, he goes. But he needs to be focused and concentrated, even because it’s a World Cup year. If he has an equal performance in the last two Cups, will the next coach see him as a pillar for the future?”

As we have said several times already, no Newcastle fan has any realistic notion that Neymar would be coming to Newcastle, it’s just media starting stories because of our new wealth and his high wages making us one of the few clubs who could afford him.

Would You Have Neymar At Newcastle?

Yes

Nah

That being said, the next question would be if we’d even want him. No doubt he has ability, but his attitude has always been questionable. And although that was Edmundo speaking for Neymar, you can actually believe that it would be all about the money for Neymar more than the club he’s joining. As to the small city and cold weather argument … if a player can’t adapt to their surroundings, again, do we even want them? Also, how much time did Edmundo spend in Newcastle to form such an opinion? We need to send Jeff Stelling round to rant at him about the city.

Eddie Howe has stated that players must have the right attitude to come to Newcastle and nothing Neymar has ever done has suggested he has it.
