Newcastle fans don’t very often get a chance to see their side splash the cash, and when they do they usually cherish it. However, in this instance, the fans are desperate to avoid seeing Mike Ashley open his wallet as the player they’re being linked with is one they really do not want to sign.

The player in question is Arsenal’s Granit Xhaka, who The Times have claimed has been offered a way out of Arsenal by the Magpies, this all coming after the Swiss midfielder was stripped of the captaincy after his recent clash with his own fans in a 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace (BBC).
The midfield options at Newcastle may not be as strong as they are at Arsenal, but it seems the fans have no interest in bringing Xhaka in. They absolutely adore the likes of Sean and Matty Longstaff, and also have Isaac Hayden and Jonjo Shelvey, so even the Geordies don’t want the Arsenal man.
