Jason Cundy believes that Newcastle deserved to leave Villa Park with nothing because of their negative approach.

The former Chelsea man was annoyed at how Newcastle set up and insisted that they should have turned up to have a go.

He believed that we played a 5-4-1 all game and were just relying on the pace of Saint-Maximin.

To be fair, he is not wrong, and the way we played was pathetic for a team that had won its last two.

Cundy thinks that because Saint-Maximin’s pace caused havoc at West Ham Bruce decided to do the same, but the talkSPORT pundit believes that it could become a one-trick pony if the Newcastle manager keeps persisting with this tactic.

Monday night was our worst performance since we were hammered off Leicester City, and it felt that all of the good work and positivity that we have built up in recent weeks was blown away by a pitiful display in the Midlands.

We now must regroup and prepare for the visit of Manchester City on Saturday.

Was this one of our worst performances of the season?

Yes, we were dreadful

Yes, we were dreadful

No, we were bad but have played worse this year

No, we were bad but have played worse this year

The lads will have to perform better than they did on Monday, or we could be in for an embarrassing afternoon.
