News: Newcastle United receive positive injury update

|

Newcastle United are set to be handed a significant injury boost as Andy Carroll edges his way back to full fitness.

A report in the Daily Mail claims that the 30-year-old is set to be handed a spot on the bench for the Toon’s game against Brighton and Hove Albion.

Carroll was re-signed by Newcastle on transfer deadline day but has not managed to make an appearance yet for his boyhood club.

This is because the former Liverpool man was recovering from ankle surgery, but he has taken part in two training sessions, and Steve Bruce is confident that he will be able to use Carroll soon.

Newcastle have struggled for goals this season having only scored four, and they are hoping that if they can keep Carroll fit, he will be the man to provide them with the goals that can keep the Toon away from a relegation battle.

Certainly, Carroll’s return should be good news for Joelinton – as he may well provide the Brazilian with some support.

At the moment a lot of the goalscoring burden is on the 23-year-old and Carroll could be able to give him the help he needs.
