News: Newcastle United duo to be handed new contracts in big coup for Steve Bruce

|

The Evening Chronicle has reported that both Isaac Hayden and Martin Dubravka are close to signing new contracts to keep them on Tyneside for their best years.

The Toon are in talks with a few of their more talented players, but it looks like it will be Hayden and Dubravka who will sign first.

Both have been huge successes since they joined Newcastle, and sealing them to long-term contracts will be a big boost for Steve Bruce.

Dubravka, 30, arrived on Tyneside in 2018 and has established himself as the undisputed number one goalkeeper and also has become a firm fan-favourite.

Costing just £4m from Sparta Prague, the Slovakian international has kept 18 clean sheets in 58 games and made numerous fantastic saves in his time with Newcastle.

Sealing a new deal for him will go down brilliantly with a lot of Newcastle fans.

Hayden, throughout the past season, has also become an essential player in the Toon’s engine room, and at just 24, the former Arsenal man can only get better.

He had wanted to move away for personal reasons, but it looks as though after failing to get a move away, he is ready to commit his long-term future to Newcastle.

Getting these to sign new contracts is a big statement of intent from Newcastle that they intend to keep hold of their best players.
