News: Newcastle star man provides positive update on his future

|

Martin Dubravka arrived in England in early 2018, and he has not looked back since he joined Newcastle from Sparta Prague on an initial loan deal.

His debut was at home to Manchester United, and the Slovakian was named Man of the Match in a 1-0 win that transformed the Toon’s season.

Last summer the deal was made permanent for £4m and Dubravka played every single Premier League game keeping 11 clean sheets.

The 30-year-old, however, refused to initially commit his future to Newcastle when Rafael Benitez left the club, but he confirmed after his sides 3-1 defeat to Liverpool that he was now close to signing a new deal.

This will be a huge boost to Steve Bruce’s men as Dubravka is a fine goalkeeper who has established himself in the Premier League and is also a fans’ favourite on Tyneside.

Admittedly he was at fault for Liverpool’s second goal, but he rarely makes mistakes, and I believe he is our best goalkeeper since Shay Given.

The 30-year-old is an excellent shot-stopper confident at claiming the ball and organises his defence very well – if he were to sign a new contract, it would be a joyous occasion.

Dubravka has made a real impact on the people of Newcastle, and a lot of Toon fans would be delighted to see him sign a new contract.
