News: Newcastle midfielder believes belief in the dressing room is strong

|

Newcastle United midfielder Isaac Hayden has revealed that the dressing room is refusing to get downbeat after a 3-1 defeat to, last season’s Champions League winners, Liverpool.

Newcastle took the lead thanks to a fantastic goal from Jetro Willems, but the league leaders grew into the game, and eventually, their quality shone through, and they comfortably won on at Anfield.

Hayden, though, has told the Evening Chronicle that the spirit and the morale within the group is high with attention swiftly moving onto Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday.

Hayden, who was destined to leave the club last year, has turned his Toon career around and is now one of the most important players in the team having started every game this season.

He also is not one to hide from media duties and was happy to confirm that the team spirit has got better under Steve Bruce and that everyone is pulling in the right direction.

I really like Hayden because he is honest and gives us all for the shirt – which is all we ask really but is this a slight dig at Rafael Benitez?

Suggesting that the team spirit is better now than it was under Benitez seems like a slight dig by Hayden, but overall, he has provided a positive update and now the Toon must win on Saturday to turn a decent start into a good one.
