News: Newcastle loan man impressing everyone connected with NUFC

|

Steve Bruce has singled out Jetro Willems for praise after another assured performance from the Dutch international.

The 25-year-old had a nightmare debut finding himself at fault for the only goal of the game and struggling to have any real impact.

That could have been that for Willems, but he was handed an opportunity with a bad injury to Matt Ritchie and has not looked back.

Willems has made the left-wing-back spot his own, and Ritchie is going to face a tough task getting back into the team.

The man from Eintracht Frankfurt looks born to play in the top-flight and has registered a goal and two assists in nine appearances.

He also played a crucial role in the Toon’s second goal on Saturday – with his cross nodded down by Federico Fernandez and then put into the net by Ciaran Clark.

Bruce claimed that Jetro is quiet and unassuming, but he does his talking on the pitch.

Who is your choice for left-wing-back?

Willems

Ritchie

Bruce also stated that he spoke to Ronald Koeman about Willems in the summer, and he confirmed he was an excellent player.

Bruce also believes that this move to Newcastle has given Willems a new lease of life, and he is relishing the Premier League.

We have the option to buy him next summer for £10m, and we should be snapping Frankfurt’s hands off at that price.
