News: Newcastle handed boost as 22-year-old set to miss game on Sunday

|

Leicester City assistant manager Chris Davies has confirmed that James Maddison is a doubt for Newcastle United’s game with Leicester on Sunday.

The Toon travel to the King Power Stadium having won on their last two visits but Leicester are aiming for a place in the top six this season, and they will see Newcastle at home as an excellent chance to get three points.

However, their hopes of a win will be dented if Maddison does miss the game. The 22-year-old is crucial to Brendan Rodgers’ side having created 100 chances last season and this season he has scored one goal and provided two assists.

Newcastle go to the Midlands knowing they have to produce a much better display than they managed on Saturday at home to Brighton & Hove Albion.

There are rumours that Miguel Almiron and Jonjo Shelvey will be dropped for the game against Leicester – as Steve Bruce looks to find that winning formula.

Certainly, the absence of Maddison would be a big boost to the Toon’s hopes of continuing their run at the King Power.
