News: Newcastle £40,000 per week man “likely” to join promotion chasing side

|

A report in the Athletic claims that Dwight Gayle is “likely” to join Nottingham Forest over Leeds United.

Leeds are expecting Arsenal to recall Eddie Nketiah, but any move for Gayle would stretch the limits of Financial Fair Play – so that has left promotion rivals Forest in prime position to take the former Crystal Palace man to the City Ground.

Steve Bruce has repeatedly said that he is excited to be working with Gayle, but since returning from injury, he has only played 23 minutes and not made a single start.

He may well be thinking that a move to Forest would guarantee him first-team football and the chance of playing regularly in the Premier League next season should they continue their promotion charge.

It seems that at the moment Gayle is the third choice behind Joelinton and Andy Carroll and if Forest were to offer Newcastle the £15m that they supposedly want, then it is hard to see Gayle staying at the Toon for much longer.

Would you keep Gayle?

Yes, he still has something to offer

No, he isn't good enough

The 29-year-old, who earns £40,000 per week, just has not impressed in the Premier League, and if someone from the Championship wanted him, then he would go with my best wishes, but he just isn’t cut out for the Premier League.
