Former Newcastle United striker Joselu has already matched his league tally for the Toon in just four months with Deportivo Alaves.

The 29-year-old scored a brace over the weekend to seal a 2-0 win for his new club, and that moved him onto six league goals – which was the same that he managed for us over two years!

In 52 appearances for Newcastle, the former Stoke City man scored seven goals, and after just 13 games for Alaves, he is one behind that tally.

Does this prove that Joselu was a better player than we thought, and he just had no confidence?

Or is La Liga an easier league to score in than the Premier League?

Either way, Joselu is performing well, and I am pleased for him.

He was not prolific for the Toon, but he did a job that Rafael Benitez wanted him to do, and he did score a few important goals for us, but he received some horrendous abuse from some of our fans, and it is no surprise that he wanted out in the summer.

One thing that Joselu can never be criticised for while he was at Newcastle was his work rate and his commitment to the club, yet he was called all sorts by some fans who should hang their heads in shame.

Are you pleased for Joselu?

Yes, he worked hard for us and deserves to be doing well

Yes, he worked hard for us and deserves to be doing well

No, he why couldn't he do that for us

No, he why couldn't he do that for us

It is therefore nice to see that his hard work is paying off and he is settled back at home in Spain and, most importantly, scoring goals.
