News: Ex-England striker loving new Newcastle United winger

|

Matty Longstaff scored the winner on his Premier League debut as Newcastle beat Manchester United 1-0 at St James’ Park last week, but it was the performance of Allan Saint-Maximin that stood out for Darren Bent.

The former Sunderland striker claimed that Diogo Dalot did not know how to deal with the Frenchman who displayed skill, power, and pace – which left the Portuguese right-back in a world of trouble.

Bent also said that he would not want to face Saint-Maximin because of his unpredictability.

Bent believes that the 22-year-old does not know what he wants to do with the ball – so how can the defender know!

Certainly, the mercurial winger was impressive on Sunday and played a vital role in the goal with a brilliant driving run to open up the Manchester United defence.

Saint-Maximin looks to have extreme pace and confidence on the ball – if Newcastle can get him fit and start him regularly, they could have a serious player on their hands.

Clearly, Bent also thinks that Saint-Maximin looks like the real deal.
