News: Defender’s representative believes that his client could stay at Newcastle

|

The agent of Newcastle’s forgotten man Achraf Lazaar has claimed that his client’s time on Tyneside may not be over – despite the fact he is currently on loan at Serie B side Cosenza.

Lazaar was signed by Rafael Benitez back in 2016, when Newcastle were in the Championship, but the Moroccan international has really struggled on Tyneside, and Benitez froze him out of the squad.

A loan move to Sheffield Wednesday went pretty well, but an injury cut his time at Hillsborough down to just four appearances.

Steve Bruce gave the 27-year-old a clean slate, but an awful performance against Wolverhampton Wanderers in pre-season left Lazaar struggling.

Newcastle then added Jetro Willems and the former Palermo man’s fate looked to be sealed.

Bruce left him out of his Premier League squad, and Lazaar was shipped back to Italy on loan.

I just cannot see Lazaar ever playing for Newcastle again he was signed as a gamble that has not paid off, and he looks out of his depth in the Premier League, and the Toon need to move him on as quickly as they can.
