News: Championship club intend to bring in 29-year-old Newcastle striker

|

Dwight Gayle is consistently linked with moves to the Championship – it seems every club in the league – who are looking to get promoted want a piece of Gayle.

This is probably because he has scored a staggering 59 goals in just 100 appearances in the Championship.

The latest club to be linked is one of his former teams – West Bromwich Albion.

Gayle spent last season on loan at the Hawthorns and was a success scoring 23 goals and helping the club into the play-offs, but West Brom decided against making the deal permanent.

However, according to a report in the Sun, they are now looking to bring Gayle back.

Their hopes of signing the 29-year-old, though, may well have taken a blow with Andy Carroll suffering a groin injury Gayle might find himself more involved in Steve Bruce’s plans.

The Newcastle manager has said that the former Crystal Palace man will get a chance in the first team, and with the Magpies struggling to score goals, I would not be surprised to see him start a game sooner rather than later.

Gayle will continue to be linked with a move back to the Championship, but under Bruce, he will be given a chance, and he may even score a few goals for us.

I think that while Bruce is in charge, Dwight Gayle won’t be going anywhere as the manager rates him.

Perhaps in his fifth Premier League season, he might finally prove he can score goals consistently in the top-flight?
