We won`t be making another attempt to sign Liverpool striker Danny Ings if his latest comments are anything to go by.
The Chronicle confirmed back in January that we made an enquiry to sign the 26 year old on loan, but speaking to the Express it seems the forward is determined to stake a claim for a first team place at Anfield:
“I feel like I`m there now and hopefully I can move on and contribute to the team as much as I can. This is a great club and I would be silly if I wanted to be anywhere else.”
With Islam Slimani returning to Leicester at the end of the season, it is very likely that we will be looking for another striker to spearhead our attack.
As Ings has been on Rafa`s wishlist in the past, it is sensible to assume he would be among those targeted once again. His work rate combined with a poacher`s instinct in front of goal are ideal qualities in terms of what our manager would be looking for.
Still, there is long way to go before the summer. Of more immediate concern is securing enough points to secure Premier League football for next season.
Once that is done, we can then focus on recruitment. With more TV money heading in to the coffers, you would hope that at least some will be made available for transfer. If that is the case, we can look to aim a bit higher than a loan deal for a new no.9.
