The deadline came and went for transfers, with that came the cut off point for clubs to submit their ’25’ man premier league team list.

The list, on this occasion, refers to players who were born before the 1st January 1996 and like every transfer window, this is a date that is rolling to basically mean players over 21 years old.

Players like loan signing Kenedy and Mikel Merino fit in the under 21 category, so dont count as part of our 25 man squad.

Newcastle named these as their ’25’ although only 24 players have been selected due to our inability to strengthen properly, that said, the opportunity to add a free player must be there:

Christian Atsu, Ciaran Clark, Karl Darlow, Mo Diame, Martin Dubravka, Paul Dummett, Rob Elliot, Jesus Gamez, Dwight Gayle, Macauley Gillesphey, Curtis Good, Massidio Haidara, Issac Hayden, Joselu, Jamaal Lascelles, Florian Lejeune, Javier Manquillo, Chancel Mbemba, Jacob Murphy, Ayoze Perez, Matt Ritchie, Jonjo Shelvey, Islam Slimani, Deandre Yedlin.

As well as being one short, the likes of Good and Gillesphey are interesting as theyve never featured, nor are likely to and are surely there to beef up the numbers.

Another rule for the squad is that you have to have 8 home grown players in the 25 but we’ve got 11 so thats one thing we have right.

Time will tell whether these lot will actually achieve the club goal of 17th place or above but there’s nothing that can be done now aside from filling that last place if the opportunity arises.
