The sale of Aleksandar Mitrovic was something that we expected.
When the Serbian went out on loan to Fulham, back in the January transfer window, the writing was on the wall with Rafael Benitez implying he’d need to score a hatful of goals to even be considered to have a future at St James Park.
Well, Mitrovic didn’t do to badly at Craven Cottage notching up a tally of twelve for Fulham.
Some might say that the clubs’ hierarchy did well to prise £22 million out of Fulham for his transfer fee, with the deal possibly increasing to £27 million for the 23-year-old.
But, what if Newcastle have made a big mistake?
What if, as the months go by, we find that Mitrovic has come on leaps and bounds and is able to score prolifically in the Premier League?
Delving into the ever-entertaining world of social media, it’s interesting to find, lurking on the Fulham sites, several comments from Newcastle supporters, comments that read:
My goodness, why can't we have a chairman/owner like you. Good luck to Mitro and Fulham next season, NUFC games aside.

Which, to us, just might suggest Mitrovic was rated higher by the support than by Rafael Benitez.
Now whether we have made a mistake remains to be seen but I guess our theory will be proven one way or another by the turn of the year.
