Newcastle Youngster`s Loan Impact Prompts First Team Debate

Adam Armstrong has been impressive since he made the loan switch to Blackburn Rovers in January. So far, he has scored seven goals and contributed two assists in 12 games for the League One outfit.

The 21 year old has shown some real promise when sent out on loan, although it must be said his two loan spells in the Championship haven`t worked quite as well.

The question was asked on Twitter about whether Adam should be given a chance by Rafa in the first team, and the response was decidely mixed:

Verdict:

Personally, I think we need to see him perform consistently at a higher level before he is given more chances here. Mitro is banging in the goals in the Championship, while during his loans at both Barnsley and Bolton, Armstrong scored just nine in 58 games.

Granted, some of those were substitute appearances, and at Wanderers he was playing for a struggling team, but if you ask me who deserves another shot, I would have to go for the Serbian.

Whether either will be given first team chances next season, it`s difficult to know for sure. All Adam can do is to keep impressing for Rovers, and then come back in the summer raring to go, and keen to impress ahead of next campaign.
