Newcastle Women Sign American Midfielder

|

Newcastle Women have had a busy transfer window bringing in five new players as they bid to gain promotion from the National League Division One North.

The latest addition is Gillian Oyos who has crossed the Atlantic, joining from Asheville University in North Carolina. Oyos will be pulling double duty under manager, Becky Langley as she will also be playing for Northumbria University.

The USA have a good record of turning out top quality players in the women’s game having led the world rankings for many years, so Oyos comes from good stock.

Speaking to the NUFC Official Site about what she can bring to the lady Mags, she said: “I feel like I can simplify the game and be that force in the middle that gets the ball, settles the game down and distribute it.”

“For next season we are hoping to raise the club to a whole new level. The girls that have been here for a while have done such an incredible job of welcoming in the new players.

“There’s such a good, tangible chemistry (in the squad) and I think if we can capitalise on that and take advantage of it every game, we’re really going to make some things happen.”
