Michael James Wallace Ashley has been in charge of our club for just a month shy of 4 and a half years. To say they have been controversial would be doing an injustice to the word, not to mention the added media attention and hysteria from an expectant public who have been fed many untruths to fuel the furnace.

Now, not wanting to trawl over the coals of many burnt out scenarios, which in truth could reignite at any moment,we can bypass the ups and downs of who, what, why, when and where as we find ourselves in a fairly good position but as with every good road we have taken over the years, eventually you approach a crossroad. In my opinion, we have 3 choices to which route we take.

These routes being INVEST,SELL or DO NOWT. The recent signals have been good with the club looking like it has started to listen to criticism, long may this continue because if we are all singing off the same hymn sheet then it’s better for everyone. We as fans can’t make a decision for a football club and even if we could, with tens of thousands of different opinions,it’s understandable that the fewer personnel we have to decide the better but what we can do and have been doing is to support the club in decisions that we see as positives, although they need to keep us in the loop in regards to any negatives that arise in the media.

The last 53 months have contained decisions which have infuriated us at best but the lack of communication has increased this ten fold, although looking back and with hindsight, some decisions have been correct. not to mention a debt that has seemingly been paid off from other owners spending policies and many other things that have scuppered a business plan that may have changed because of this, i don’t know but through luck, skill or whatever, we find ourselves in a great position. The finances have improved, the belief is going up, the crowds are returning. Everything seems to be slotting in place and with a bit of fine tuning we could actually have the brightest future we’ve had for a very long time.

We have a very good nucleus of a top quality side and with the right additions, we will be a force within 3 years. We need to strengthen the obvious areas and not sell our better players. Some have the potential to grace the world stage or any other top side. Hopefully our owners have the potential within themselves to realise the quality we have here and to keep it at all costs.

The potential within the stadium and city, if tapped into right will make the whole of football sit up and notice as our loyalty is second to none, we deserve a shot at the big time. Hopefully this could be soon, if only our regime can see what the fans see instead of pound signs. Together we can use this as a new beginning and introduce the world to a new NEWCASTLE UNITED. The future of the English game.
