It looks as though we will have almost a full squad to choose from for our trip to AFC Bournemouth at the weekend.

Rafa revealed after the United win that Islam Slimani was still feeling his thigh injury that he sustained before his arrival on Tyneside.
However, the Chronicle report that the Algerian is doing all he can to prove his fitness for Saturday`s match following the 13 day gap between fixtures.

The January signing has yet to kick a ball in anger for the Magpies, but I am sure I am not the only one hoping he will be fit and raring to go for the game at the weekend.

He can now only play ten games for the club before his loan spell ends as one of our final eleven league matches will be against his parent club Leicester.

What an improvement on previous years when we used to have five or six on the injury list with pulls and strains and some like De Jong for full seasons at at a time. Although you need a bit of luck, game management also comes into play and Rafa has resisted the urge to rush players back before they are ready.

Coming into the business end of the season an injury free squad is going to give us a bit of an advantage over our fellow promotional strugglers, especially due to the lack of real quality in our squad. With the Spurs game certain to be moved and free weekends due to the FA Cup and Internationals there’s going to be a fair few games in April, so keeping a fit squad is going to be important. The sooner we get those 3/4 wins the better and we can look forward to getting rid of the fat cunt over the summer, as I’m convinced he really wants out this time.”
