Steve Wraith delivered a series of Newcastle United takeover updates to Twitter on Thursday afternoon.
The divisive Geordie actor has remained confident throughout the past 12 weeks that this saga has rumbled on and with fresh contracts being handed out to both Javier Manquillo and Andy Carroll this week, Wraith tried to calm down any worries that the Saudi bid might be off as a result.
Will the takeover be announced before the summer?
Yes!
No!
He claims that the deals will make no difference to the takeover as it is by no means a sign that they’ll feature under a new regime in the future.
The Spanish right-back signed a four-year extension whilst the 6 foot 4 forward will be around for next season.
Wraith said:
New contracts make no difference. We need these out of players to stay till end of season and agents will get best deal they can for clients. It doesn’t mean they will feature heavily once #NUFCTakeover goes through. No panic. #nufc pic.twitter.com/RPMaVgXFix

As for #NUFCTakeover the narrative has changed with many in mainstream with the exception of those who are very close to our head coach and those impartial journos supporting manchester reds. (There’s only 1 united.) I believe it will go through. I can see it dragging on. pic.twitter.com/hjBl2qHPHB

He goes on to suggest that the narrative has changed in the mainstream media – a few weeks ago it was all doom and gloom as we awaited the World Trade Organisation report and now that’s all out in the open with the Saudi kingdom pledging to clamp down on pirate streaming platforms across the country, things have become more encouraging.
Wraith also believes that the takeover will definitely go through, as he has maintained throughout, but does state that it could yet continue to drag on.
It means the decision of approval is still in the hands of the Premier League as we approach into a 13th week of this saga.
This Sunday, the Magpies will contest their first FA Cup quarter-final in 14 years when they face Manchester City at St James’ Park.
